Security: how it works in your browser

Everything you enter or generate with this tool (your settings and the passwords themselves) is processed only by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing is sent to or stored on a server, so your passwords are never shared with third parties or with us.

Instead of the common Math.random(), passwords are generated with crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser's built-in API for cryptographically secure random numbers. This makes the generated passwords hard to predict.

The results are cleared from your browser when you close or reload the page (use Copy or Download CSV to keep them). On a shared computer, we recommend clearing your browser history and clipboard after use.

How to use

  1. 1. Set your options: Use the slider or the input box to choose a length, and check the character types to include (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols). Turn on “Exclude look-alike characters” if you plan to write the password down.
  2. 2. Choose how many: Pick 10–50 passwords to generate at once — handy when you need passwords for several accounts.
  3. 3. Click “Generate”: A list of passwords that match your options appears.
  4. 4. Copy or download: Use the copy icon on each row, “Copy all” to copy everything, or “Download CSV” to save them as a file.

Frequently asked questions

Are the generated passwords stored on a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser (JavaScript). Your settings and the generated passwords are never sent to any server.
How long and complex should my password be?
Most services recommend at least 12 characters — ideally 16 or more — using uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Use longer, more complex passwords for your most important accounts.
When should I use “Exclude look-alike characters”?
It's useful when you need to write a password down or read it out to someone. It removes characters that are easy to confuse, such as 1 (one), l (lowercase L), and I (uppercase i), or 0 (zero) and O/o (the letter o).
Can I get the same passwords again on the same device?
No. Each password is generated from cryptographically secure random numbers (crypto.getRandomValues in the Web Crypto API), so you get different results every time. Be sure to save a password before you use it.
